Kells Handball Club

Kells Handball Club is situated on Church View in its own premises with handball alleys and a bar. The Club is extremely successful nationally, out of all proportion to its size and membership. This year saw the club triumph in the MACSPORTS Interclub Open event. Also this year, the club, in the person of Gary McConnell, won the All-Ireland Minor singles( 40 x 20) title.

New members are always welcome and no previous experience of the game is required.

* For visitors from outside ireland.........Handball is closely related to both Pelota and Fives. The game has its origins in hitting a ball against a blank wall or the gable end in a terrace. It was extremely popular in the US towards the end of the 19th C. A World championship was instituted in 1964, competing countries being the US, ireland, Canad, Australia and Mexico.
