The former Kells
Courthouse. This building was designed by Francis Johnston
and dates from the early 1800s. The building of the Courthouse
was financed by the Headfort family as a gift to the grateful
people of the town. Much as in Local Hero, Burt Lancaster
offers the villagers a piano. It has found a new use now as
Kells Heritage Centre. It has been gutted and refurbished. The
interior is pleasant and well appointed. There are staff available
to give advice on attractions in the area.
NB The centre is currently closed
material on the site © Kells on Line and Alickadoo, except where marked.
